Blitzing linebacker Andy Headen sacked Green Bay quarterback Lynn Dickey for a 7-yard loss and safety in the third quarter to widen the Giants' lead to 19-7. Dickey threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Willie Ware with 30 seconds left in the game. Schubert's second field goal, a 31-yarder to open the fourth quarter, made the score 22-7. Schubert also missed a field goal and had one blocked. - Some ads, missing some plays

(11-08-92) Green Bay Packers vs NY Giants - As hard as they tried, the New York Giants couldn't give away Sunday's game to the Green Bay Packers. So Green Bay, trailing by six points and given a second chance by New York, handed it right back on Reyna Thompson's 69-yard interception return for the clinching touchdown in the Giants' 27-7 victory. The key series came with 4 1/2 minutes remaining. Pepper Johnson intercepted a weak pass by Brett Favre and, while returning it, made several turns rather than falling down. Favre then knocked the ball loose and Sanjay Beach recovered for Green Bay. Two plays later, Thompson stepped in front of tight end Jackie Harris, grabbed Favre's pass and sped down the sidelines. The quarterback missed a tackle on the only chance to stop Thompson. Lawrence Taylor played what was probably his last game in the NFL. The star linebacker ruptured his Achilles' tendon late in the third quarter after he blocked a pass. Taylor, who earlier this year announced he will retire after the season, was carted off the field. The Giants, who have won three straight, improved to 5-4. The Packers took a 7-6 lead with a precision drive of 75 yards in 12 plays, taking up 8:08 in the second period. Vince Workman carried six times for 27 yards on the drive, scoring his first touchdown from the 3. The Giants were forced to punt on the next series after two monster hits by safety Chuck Cecil broke up plays. But Workman fumbled when hit by Taylor and Erik Howard recovered at the Packers' 41. Three plays later, Stephen Baker out jumped Terrell Buckley for a 34-yard gain on which Buckley never turned for the ball. Rodney Hampton scored from the 2 for a 13-7 lead. - Includes commercials (Quality 9)

(09-17-95) New York Giants @ Green Bay Packers - Brett Favre was good enough in the first half, and that's all he and the Green Bay Packers needed against the New York Giants. Favre threw touchdown passes to Mark Ingram and Robert Brooks and the Packers' defense made it stand up Sunday in a 14-6 victory over the winless Giants. The loss marked the first time coach Dan Reeves has started a season 0-3. Green Bay, 9-23-1 in the first three weeks of the past 11 seasons, moved to 2-1 for the first time since 1982. The Giants outgained the Packers, 303 yards to 198 but could only manage two field goals. - Includes commercials (Quality 8.5)

Holmes, the first 100-yard Packer rusher this season, showed speed and excellent vision, read his blocks well and made great cuts. It was Favre's 200th career touchdown pass in just 107 games over his eight seasons in the NFL. Favre is the second-fastest quarterback in league history to the two-century mark (Dan Marino, 89 games). Favre also became the second-fastest passer in league history to reach 25,000 career yards when he completed a short pass to receiver Antonio Freeman in the first quarter. - (Quality 9)

(12-13-98) Denver Broncos @ New York Giants - Broncos undefeated season goes down the drain when Hail Mary falls incomplete for 20-16 Giants win. Denver's Terrell Davis (28-147-1) has big day, but so does New York RB Gary Brown (18-112) and QB Kent Graham (21-33, 2tds, 265yds) to help key MAJOR upset. (Quality 9) - Added September, 2008

(01-28-01) Super Bowl XXXV - Baltimore Ravens vs N.Y. Giants - @ Tampa, FL - Baltimore's record setting defense makes it's case as the best "D" in NFL history as only a kickoff return for a TD spoils their shut out in convincing 34-7 win over New York

2001

(01-06-02) Green Bay Packers @ New York Giants - Michael Strahan sets NFL sack record for a season when Favre is thought to have given him the sack - Both teams came out of Green Bay's 34-25 win over the New York Giants accomplishing their respective goals for the game. The Packers secured a home playoff game next week against San Francisco with the win. The Giants' Michael Strahan set the NFL record for sacks in a single season with his takedown of Brett Favre late in the fourth quarter. Strahan had been unable to pressure Favre for most of the day and it seemed as if the Packers (12-4) would just run out the clock as the fourth quarter wound down. On a keep pass, where Favre fakes a handoff to Green and tries to roll out the other direction, Favre ran right into the pursuit of Strahan and slid down as the defensive end promptly fell on top of him. The Giants' defensive end recorded 22 1/2 sacks on the season to break the 1986 record of 22 held by the New York Jets' Mark Gastineau. The former record-holder was on hand at Giants stadium to witness the event. The Packers' Billy Lyon quietly added one sack for the Packers to bring the team's record total on the season to 52. The Giants piled up 524 yards, their highest total since October 1967 and the most allowed by the Packers since the rainy Monday night in 1998 at Lambeau Field when Minnesota amassed 545 yards. The Packers had beaten the Bears twice but in the end it made no difference because Chicago stayed one game ahead, finishing at 13-3 by crushing Jacksonville on Sunday. A loss by the Bears would have vaulted Green Bay from the fourth seeding to the second in the NFC and given them next weekend off. - includes commercials, halftime, and "Locker Room Live" post game show (Quality 8.5)

(01-05-03) 2002 NFC Wildcard - New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers - "The comeback" - New York is absolutely hitting on all cylinders as they built their lead to 38-14 mid way through the 3rd quarter. But San Francisco pulls off the second largest comeback in NFL Playoff History by scoring the last 25 points and hold on for the win at home when the Giants last play FG attempt to win is muffed up. The game, already historic, would attain legendary status when the following day the NFL was forced to admit the officials screwed up that last play by not calling off setting penalties which would have given NY another FG try! - upgraded December, 2008

The Giants improved to 3-1 despite a series of missed opportunities, including three errant field goal attempts by Steve Christie. The Packers, trying to overcome infighting and injuries, fell to 1-3 for the first time since 1993 and have their first three-game losing streak under fifth-year coach Mike Sherman.

2007

(09-16-07) Green Bay Packers @ New York Giants - The Packers beat up on the team that would later get revenge in the Playoffs. Brett Favre was named ‘NFC Offensive Player of the Week’ for his performance at New York. He completed 29 of 38 passes for 286 yards and three TDs, for a 112.4 passer rating; connected with eight different receivers. Converted his first 14 passes in the second half; overall was 18-of-21 for 147 yards and three touchdowns following halftime. Brett Favre becomes the winningest quarterback of all time (160 victories), passing John Elway (148) on the all-time quarterback wins list. Donald Driver had a game-high 126 receiving yards on six catches, with one touchdown, his first 100-yard receiving game of the season and 17th of his career. Made his first reception in the second quarter, a 16-yard gain on third-and-3. The catch moved him into No. 1 on Lambeau Field’s all-time receptions list. - added September, 2007

(12-29-07) New England Patriots @ New York Giants - In a Super Bowl XLII Preview, the New England Pariots become the first team to go undefeated in the Regular Season since the 1972 Miami Dolphins, and they become the first team ever to go 16-0! They earned it too as the very game New York Giants gave them everything they could handle. The Giants actually lead 28-16 late in the 3rd Quarter and seemed to have momentum clearly on their side. But the Patriots score touchdowns on three straight drives, and then hand on for 38-35 record setting win. And speaking of records, a few big ones were set on this night! New England broke the all time team scoring record, 589 points, while on the nights go ahead touchdown, a majestic 65 yard bomb, two NFL Records fell on that same play as their QB Tom Brady set the all time record for scoring passes, 50, in a single season, with an individual single season record 23 of those going to WR Randy Moss! - Added October, 2008

(01-13-08) 2007 NFC Divisional - New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys - With 23 seconds left in the game, Giants defensive back R. W. McQuarters intercepted a pass from Tony Romo in the end zone to preserve a victory over the Cowboys, who had defeated New York twice during the season. The win marked the first time in 20 years that the NFC's #1 seeded team had been eliminated in the divisional round and sent the Cowboys home with their sixth consecutive playoff loss since 1996. - added April, 2008

(01-20-08) 2007 NFC Championship - New York Giants @ Green Bay Packers - The kickoff temperature was -1 degrees with -25 degree windchill making this game the 3rd coldest in NFL playoff history. - The Giants would play solid and beat the Packers in a back and forth game that never saw the Packers find their rhythem on offense. - added January, 2008

(01-13-08) Super Bowl XLII - New York Giants vs New England Patriots - The Giants weren't given a shot against the team that everyone thought would have the first undefeated season since the Dolphins in 1972, but the Giants came into the game on a roll and had a defense that gave the Patriots fits in the final game of the regular season. - added April, 2008

2010 Season

(12-19-10) Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants - Two teams came in tied for the division lead and winner would have the inside track to winning the division with only two games remaining. The Giants dominate the game the first half taking a commanding lead half way into the 4th Qtr. Then with 8 minutes to go implode and Vick and the Eagles wake up and get one big play after another to tie the game with a little over a minute to go. Then with 14 secs to go the Giants punter is instructed to kick the ball out of bounce and instead kicks a line drive straight to Deshaun Jackson who muffs the catch. Jackson has enough time to recover the ball and shoots straight through the heart of the Giants return team like an arrow scoring the winning TD with no time remaining. An unbelievable comeback. - (Quality 9) - March, 2011

(12-26-10) New York Giants @ Green Bay Packers - Packers playoffs start with the return of Rodgers from his concussion and must win situations the rest of the season to reach the playoffs.
